A short but strong storm blew through Bruce Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m. taking down trees and in turn powerlines.

Charles and Marie Logan and Tammy Kennedy were sitting in their living room at their East Johnson Street home, directly behind Bruce Telephone Company, when a large tree behind the home fell across and through the roof.

"I was sitting in the chair and the roof started coming in," Marie Logan said. "I heard some noise and then it just happened really fast. Thank the Lord we weren't hurt."

All escaped with just minor scratches. Bruce Fire and Police Department personnel were on scene trying to help the family get relocated.

Downed trees were responsible for the bulk of the damage around town. One took out several lines down Rogers Street and another pulled a utility pole loose behind Bruce Dry Cleaners. Some parts of Bruce didn't get power restored until 10:30 p.m.
