Calhoun County Extension agent Trent Barnett informed county supervisors Monday he’s losing an employee but looks to add two over the next few months.

Barnett said Katelyn Bailey would be leaving as office associate Nov. 9 but he had received clearance from MSU Extension to hire a replacement and add another county agent position.

“We went from four employees down to two in 2010,” Barnett said. “We lost one of those and have a been a two. This will get us back to three eventually which is great for the county.”

Barnett cautioned the hiring process is slow through the university system so likely be January before either position was filled.

“I’m hoping to get some temporary help in until we get someone hired,” he said.

The two new positions will slightly increase the county’s budget for Extnesion, which was approved by the board Monday.

Other items approved by the board:

•hiring of Braeden Reynolds, a full-time officer at Bruce, as part time deputy.

•transfer of 2005 Crown Victoria from sheriff’s department to county airport for “courtesy car.”

•transportaion and solid waste grant applications with Three Rivers PDD.

•pay Circuit Clerk Carlton Baker $750 to build database for election machines if runoff required.

•to pay $25 to certify one person at each precinct for online training.

•advertise for a truck and dump trailer for district five.

•advertise for bids for feeding prisoners at jail for 2019.
