Anthony Armstrong, 31, was arrested at a residence in Vardaman around 5 p.m., where Calhoun County deputies had gone to serve an indictment on someone else.
Sheriff Greg Pollan said Deputies Kenneth White and Dustin Pounds approached Armstrong sitting in a car with the illegal narcotics in his hand.
Armstrong was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of controlled substance, two counts felony possession of a firearm (Glock and an AK47), possession of alcohol, resisting or obstructing arrest, disorderly conduct–failure to comply with police. He was also on an MDOC hold for failure to appear with probation officer for a period of time.
“Great job by deputies White and Pounds for getting illegal drugs, guns and a wanted criminal off the streets of Calhoun County,” Sheriff Pollan said. “We are very proud of these guys.”
