Three Calhoun County 4-H participants excelled in the recent Northeast District Swine Show.
Stormy Thompson, left, won 1st place in the 10 and 11 year old Market Hog showmanship, won 1st place Heavyweight 1 Hampshire, 2nd place Heavyweight 1 Duroc, Reserve Champion Heavyweight Duroc and Reserve Champion Duroc, and 3rd place Yorkshire. Stormy Thompson received Grand Champion Market Hog with her Hampshire at the Northeast District Livestock Show held in Verona, Mississippi. Ellen Harrell, center, won 1st in the 16 and 18 year old Market Hog showmanship, won 1st place Heavyweight 1 Duroc, Champion Heavyweight Duroc and Champion Duroc, 1st place Mediumweight 1 Hampshire, 2nd place Yorkshire and Reserve Champion Yorkshire. Ellen Harrell received Reserve Grand Champion with her Duroc and the Roy Cooper Sportsmanship Award. Jensyn Cain won 1st place in the 14 and 15 year old Market Hog showmanship, won 1st place Mediumweight 1 Duroc and Champion Mediumweight Duroc, 1st place Yorkshire and Champion Yorkshire, and 2nd place Heavyweight 1 Hampshire.
