Mayor Rudy Pope told the Bruce Chamber of Commerce last week the town was waiting on dryer weather to begin work on the bike trail in Bruce Park.

Pope said new benches had been ordered to replace two at Oakwood Park and five more for the Bruce Square. Work was also being done to improve the trash cans on the square.
Chamber President J.J. Winter said the organization had nearly 50 businesses participate in the “Paint the Town Purple” contest with Brasher’s Home Furnishings earning the top prize – an ad in The Calhoun County Journal. The contest was held in conjunction with this year’s Relay For Life.
Barbara Winter reported the Relay held at Trojan Field raised over $22,000.
Robbie Winter won the monthly door prize from the chamber.
