Calhoun County voters will go to the polls March 10 to cast their votes in the United States Presidential Primaries for the both the Democrat and Republican parties.
The Democratic ballot has two contested races – U.S. President and U.S. Senate.
Presidential candidates on the ballot for the Democrats are Joseph R. Biden, Michael R. Bloomberg, Pete Buttigieg, Tulsi Gabbard, Amy Klobuchar, Deval Patrick, Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer, Elizabeth Warren and Andrew Yang.
U.S. Senate candidates on the Democratic ballot are Tobey Bernard Bartee, Jensen Bohren and Mike Espy. The winner in this race will oppose Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith in November.
Antonia Eliason is unopposed in the Democratic Primary for U.S. House Rep. 1 and will face U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly in November.
The Republican ballot for president features, in alphabetical order, Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente, Donald J. Trump and Bill Weld.
U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and U.S. Rep. Trent Kelly are both unopposed.
Absentee Ballots are now available for those voters over the age of 65 and voters who are temporarily or permanently disabled.
In office absentee ballots for voters who will be out of the county on election day or voters who will be at work during the election day are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Circuit Clerk’s at Pittsboro.
The Circuit Clerk’s office will also be open Saturday, Feb. 8, Feb. 29 and March 7 from 8 a.m. until noon.
The 30-day voter registration deadline to be eligible to participate in the March 10 statewide presidential primary will be March 10 at 5 p.m. in office. Voters who mail in voter registration applications must be postmarked no later than March 10.
The Circuit Clerk’s office will be open Saturday, Feb. 8 from 8 a.m. until noon that day for this deadline.
