Domestic Violence Awareness Month acknowledged in Calhoun

October was Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Calhoun County community came together to show their support for the many survivors and victims of domestic violence.

Purple lights shined throughout various communities in support of efforts to promote awareness. Daniels Temple Church of God partnered with Black Girls Rock of MS, iMPaCt 360, Bridges Chapel Church, Union Grove Church, True Vine Church, Oak Grove Church, The Church of the Living God, Latter Rain Church of the Living God, Porters Chapel, Joyce Stephens and Family (mother of Shauntinae A. Hardwick) and Bishop and Sister William Golden and Family (family of Marisha Golden) to raise $800 and seven boxes of supplies for the Battered Women’s Shelter of Lowndes County, which serves Calhoun County.
