Vardaman board of aldermen voted to take legal action against Jay Vanlandingham of Vardaman at the regular meeting of the board last night.
Vanlandingham (not the Jay Vanlandingham of Bruce who works at Bruce Telephone Co. and is a constable) agreed at last month’s meeting to sign an agreement to make payments of $51 every two weeks until the $255 he owes to the town is paid off.
Mayor James Casey said he did not come in and sign an agreement and had made no payments.
Vanlandingham presented the town with an invoice several months ago for youth football uniforms, and the town paid him. The players never received their uniforms.
Aldermen voted to let board Atty. Paul Moore Jr. proceed with collecting the money.
In another matter, the board briefly discussed rental fees for The Front Porch, but took no action.
Mayor Casey said they plan to start on the kitchen in the building soon.
The board also approved:
•Maintenance supervisor Brent Harrell to get quotes on a trailer to haul town equipment.
Clerk Barbara Tedder said the town’s annual Christmas parade will be Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
