The Bruce Chamber of Commerce announced a new president and vice-president at their meeting Monday at Jeffery’s on the Bruce Square.
Chamber President Becky Wright announced that Calhoun County Journal Publisher Joel McNeece would succeed her as president and Miles Jeffery will be the organization’s new vice president. The new officers will begin their terms immediately following the Feb. 26 chamber banquet to be held at the Bruce Museum.
In related news, voting is currently underway for the annual awards to be presented at the banquet. Awards presented include Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, and Chamber Member of the Year. The public at large can vote for Citizen of the Year. Other awards are voted on by chamber members only.

Alderwoman Ellen Shaw presented the municipal report during which she said the sewer improvement project is underway around town.
“This is something we’ve been trying to get done for a long time,” Shaw said. “We’re excited about the impact of these improvements.”
Rickie Vaughn announced he and Miles Jeffery had installed a new door at the Bruce Museum and made some other improvements, with more planned.
Joel McNeece announced the museum received last week an original bell off the M&SV locomotive. Bob Cooper helped acquire the bell for the museum which was donated by Bettye Collums Tutor, Linda Collums Cooper, Dr. John Goudelock, Ann Goudelock Vance and Jim Goudelock in memory of Dr. L.A. Goudelock and Marjorie Collums Goudelock Chrestman.
A display case for the bell is in the works as well as other museum items.
CEDA Director Shelia Freely spoke briefly to the chamber thanking everyone that atended the CEDA Banquet last week. Freely said she received numerous comments about the Bruce Museum about how much visitors enjoyed the facility.
